Our Facility
The centerpiece of Pine Point's campus is its Library/Technology Center. This 7,500 sq. ft. community resource provides instructional space for pre-school, lower school, and middle school students and features a state of the art technology center plus a conference room equipped for distance learning.
Goals of the Pine Point School Library
To provide materials (both print and non-print) and services which support and supplement classroom curricula, meet the individual research needs of students and provide for teachers' professional development and growth.
To provide formal instruction in the selection, evaluation and use of information resources (both in-house and Internet-based) so that students can function effectively and independently in other research settings throughout their lives.
To encourage a love of reading by providing recreational reading and displays and through special programming such as read-alouds, booktalks, and TV turnoffs.
- 14,266 catalogued items (books, videos, DVDs, CDs, magazines, audio books)
- 623 new titles added in 08-09
- 9,902 volumes circulated in the 08-09 year
- Member of the Connecticut Library Consortium (a regional collective of libraries of all types)
- Carol Ansel, Librarian (American Library Association accredited Masters in Library and Information Studies from University of Rhode Island.)

- Weekly library instruction for students in grades K through 6, in addition to research projects in association with classroom teachers, and individual support for research projects in grades 7 through 9

Features of the Technology Center
The heart of Pine Point's technology efforts is its:
- 16 PC workstations and an interactive whiteboard in the computer lab
- 4 teaching stations which offer ceiling-mounted LCD projectors for teaching larger groups of students
- 6 iMacs for student use
- 4 standing lookup stations, all with internet access
- 2 networked laser printers
- support for our dual platform campus (PC and Macintosh)
The L/TC's Board Room is equipped with Sony-based videoconferencing equipment including DVD/VCR viewing capabilities and cable television access. The room can comfortably accommodate 30 students or more.
The Media Production Room features an Apple Macintosh G5 with dual 2.5 gHz processors, a 30-inch HD flat panel cinema display and 6.1 channel surround sound. With a dedicated scanner and printer, the room offers students and teachers a complete facility for editing and producing full motion video and still images.
The L/TC is a wireless environment offering full internet access and print capabilities to students and faculty who use their own laptops.
