Global Education Outreach [GEO]
Dear Parents,
Pine Point School has maintained a proud tradition of academic excellence within an active learning environment since 1948, and we are now excited to welcome international students and their families into middle school grades 7-9. While our school will be strengthened by having students from around the world studying together, we understand our important role in preparing those students with the requisite English skills to compete among the very best secondary schools. Our Global Education Outreach program requires students to live within the safety and security of our families’ homes, optimizing the exercise of English language and American culture. We will learn from each other.
What we all have in common is our humanity, our good minds and our abundant hearts. Education is that enterprise in which we cultivate both, and thereby advance our civilization into the future. Rigorous intellectual pursuits and disciplined habits of mind are necessary for elevating leaders of tomorrow. But they only exercise a portion of our humanity. Our lasting mark is made by how each of us will elevate others. So what difference will you be making in the years to come? Each Pine Point graduate will be asked to consider this question as they become leaders in the world. We welcome those students and families who aspire to greatness.

Who We Are
Pine Point School is an independent coeducational school, Preschool through Grade 9, located on 68 acres near the seashore in Stonington, Connecticut. At its core, Pine Point is a dynamic partnership of students, faculty and parents of diverse experiences committed to academic excellence. Students actively engage in their own learning in a rigorous and relevant yet nurturing environment where the individual is valued, learning is meaningful, and a true sense of family extends to all. It is the Mission of the School to develop in each student an inquisitive, creative, and disciplined mind, a healthy body, an appreciation for and love of the arts, and a sense of responsibility for self and community. As important members of a local and global community, students are encouraged to contribute, to be conscious of the differences and needs of others, and to develop leadership skills.

Academics
Pine Point enjoys a national reputation as a leader in education and its students are well-prepared and well-rounded; English, mathematics, world history, science and the arts are all stressed. Faculty meet individual student needs with appropriate levels of challenge and support, and daily reading, writing, and public speaking are integral components of the academic program. Accelerated courses are offered throughout Grades 7-9.
The Pine Point Difference
A Pine Point middle school education includes unique elements both within the school curriculum and through its partnerships with outside organizations. There are opportunities for music school apprenticeships through the Calvary Music School, weekly oceanography research using the school boat, advanced mathematics through Stanford University’s Education Program for Gifted Youth, and international travel in association with the Dolphin Communication Project , among others. Pine Point offers an unparalleled education experience for qualified students, many of whom go on to attend Andover, Exeter, Choate, Deerfield, Hotchkiss, Kent, St. Paul’s, Tabor, and other exemplary secondary schools. The School’s location allows for easy access to Yale, Brown, Harvard and Trinity campuses as well. Few preparatory schools can offer the education that a child receives at Pine Point, with its emphasis on service initiative, responsibility, and communication, along with building a solid academic foundation for the future.
