People
Individual achievement, collaborative effort
Students learn in an enriched academic environment fostered by an experienced faculty, the majority of whom hold advanced degrees. Teachers and parents model a vigorous pursuit of knowledge with respect for each other and our environment. We challenge students each day with opportunities for practice, and provide support needed while they grow and mature. We learn from each other, and the strength of our school rests with the members of our community. Pine Point seeks new families of diverse experiences who share the vision of actively educating learners and leaders for the future.
Academics
Children are challenged as teachers tailor the academic program within a learner-centered, child-centered environment. Students benefit from team teaching, collaborative learning and cross-grade groupings in many of their core subjects. Daily reading and journal writing is an integral component of the program at all grade levels. Because we focus on personal excellence, both accelerated and remedial instruction is provided. Core subjects include English, mathematics, science, social studies, world language (Latin, French, Spanish), computer and library instruction.
Enriching the Core
A Pine Point education offers unique opportunities that complement and enhance the academic program. These include music, dance and art instruction, theater and drama, choir and instrumental ensemble, physical education, competitive team sports, an oceanology program, an international studies program, public speaking and presentations, service learning projects, after school care, study skills courses as well as SSAT preparation course, field experiences to New York City, Boston, Philadelphia, Washington, DC, Ellis Island, Old Sturbridge Village, Appalachian Mountains, and more. Pine Point School has developed a national reputation as an outstanding program that educates the whole child.
Parents
Pine Point parents are welcome to visit classrooms, attend parent-teacher conferences and school functions, volunteer in the library and publishing center, enrich and support the academic program, serve on the Board of Trustees, accompany class field trips, and participate in an active Parents' Association.
