Endowment

At the start of this century, Pine Point’s endowment stood at just $150,000. In 2000, the School launched The Campaign for Pine Point, which resulted in the creation of the Geise Library/Technology Center and the DeMovick Early Childhood Center. The Campaign also had a goal of raising $1 million for the endowment. That goal was also met, and, with every year since, members of the Pine Point family have shown their strong support of the endowment. Pine Point’s market value now stands at $4.4 million and is generating over $150,000 in support of this current generation of students and their dedicated teachers!

Not only do members of the Pine Point family understand the importance of endowment, but they are increasingly drawn, for a variety of reasons, to the idea of setting up named funds. Some want to honor a beloved family or faculty member. There are 54 named endowment funds that comprise Pine Point’s endowment. Take a look at the names of those funds. Those funds call attention to some of our most beloved faculty members; they also honor or memorialize members of the extended Pine Point family.

Many of the funds support the entire program while others are more targeted, supporting a specific area of school life for which the donors are (or were) passionate. Some of the areas of school life that are strengthened by these funds include: oceanology, financial aid, community and diversity, technology, the faculty, the teaching of science, the Geise Library/Technology Center, the middle school musical, the arts, and athletics.

What all of the funds have in common is that they are central to our mission of providing a program that educates the whole child. As well, taken together, they provide an important source of revenue beyond tuition income and the Annual Fund to maintain the strength of Pine Point.

The School has made it easier to support the endowment by providing the ability to make a gift online to the fund of your choosing.

Those interested in learning more about the endowment and perhaps establishing a fund to honor an individual or support a specific area of school life should contact Director of Development David Hannon.

Current Endowment Focus

Members of the Pine Point community are currently focused on supporting two endowment funds in particular.

With the passing of Cassandra "Candy" White Sweeney '73 on August 5, 2017, family, friends, and alumni have been directing gifts in Candy's memory to the Class of 1973 Fund.

In June, longtime faculty member Robin Rice brought to a close over 30 years of extraordinary teaching. Those wishing to honor her service and the difference she made in the lives of hundreds of children are encouraged to make a gift to The Fund for Teaching Excellence.
