Events at Pine Point strengthen ties with the Pine Point family – our alumni, current and past parents, grandparents, friends, faculty and staff – while also engaging members of the community beyond Barnes Road. Most events occur annually and take place at the School; a few are held off-campus at local venues with which Pine Point has developed strong partnerships.
- Annual Fall Reception/Alumni Reunion/Castle Award Presentation
- Royce Speaker Series
- Dinner on the Town
- Grandparents’/Grandpersons’ Day
- Annual Pine Point School Golf Tournament
- The Snow Ball – February 10, 2018
Each fall since the 1990s, members of the Pine Point family – alumni, friends, current and past parents, grandparents, faculty, and staff – gather to honor volunteer service, thank the many individuals who support the mission of Pine Point and its programs, and renew our ties with one another and the School.
Last year, 180 members of the Pine Point family returned to campus on a glorious September evening. We welcomed alumni from 26 different classes. We recognized parent and new Trustee Caroline Maynard with the Steven M. Castle Distinguished Service Award for her selfless service as a volunteer. And we celebrated the fact that more than $1 million was given to support the School, affirming our shared commitment that each of us will do all that we can to strengthen this place that we love.
Please make plans to join us this year on Friday, September 22, 2017!

The Royce Speaker Series is dedicated to bringing important conversations to Pine Point and our community in Southeast Connecticut and Rhode Island. Generously funded by current Pine Point grandparents Chuck and Deborah Royce, the series’ events are free and open to all.
Dinner on the Town offers an opportunity to support the School while enjoying splendid company and outstanding meals at one of the many excellent restaurants in the area. A percentage of each diner’s purchases goes to Pine Point.
Dinner on the Town locations have included Dog Watch Café, Oyster Club, Bridge, S&P Oyster Co., BravoBravo, Red 36, and Breakwater. We are grateful to these community partners for their continued support, and appreciate your patronage of these friends of Pine Point.
Join us in the fall for our next Dinner on the Town. We’ll meet at Pizzeria Longo in Westerly (date to be announced).
Join Us on April 28, 2018

At Commencement Pine Point celebrates the achievements of those in the middle school who distinguished themselves academically and through their character and commitment to the community.
Erin Larson ’04 will be the Commencement Speaker on June 9, 2018. As a Ph.D candidate in ecology and evolutionary biology at Cornell University, Erin combines her love for studying streams with studying Spanish and exploring new countries.
“I am still working on figuring out where I want to find my niche - as an educator or working in the nonprofit or consulting world," Erin said. "Pine Point’s emphasis on interdisciplinary study trained me from an early age to get excited about the opportunities these crossroads represent.”
The Snow Ball is Pine Point’s bi-annual auction. The last three auctions have all been held at the historic Ocean House in Watch Hill, RI. The auctions have provided important support for the entire program while also making possible the construction of our middle school athletic locker rooms and the purchase of resources ranging from iPads, microscopes, a kiln, “great fit books” for our youngest students, to substantial backing of the faculty’s professional development. The most recent Snow Ball took place on February 20, 2016 and brought out over 200 members of the Pine Point family and the greater community. The 2016 Snow Ball was a record-setting night, raising $160,000 in net income to support the experience of this current generation of Pine Point students and their teachers.
Please make plans to join us for the 2018 Snow Ball, which will be held at Lake of Isles in North Stonington, Connecticut!
