Events at Pine Point strengthen ties with the Pine Point family – our alumni, current and past parents, grandparents, friends, faculty and staff – while also engaging members of the community beyond Barnes Road. Most events occur annually and take place at the School; a few are held off-campus at local venues with which Pine Point has developed strong partnerships.
- Annual Fall Reception/Alumni Reunion/Castle Award Presentation
- Royce Speaker Series
- Annual Alumni Field Hockey and Soccer Games
- Dinner on the Town
- Grandparents’/Grandpersons’ Day
- Annual Pine Point School Golf Tournament
- The Snow Ball – February 10, 2018
Each fall since the 1990s, members of the Pine Point family – alumni, friends, current and past parents, grandparents, faculty, and staff – gather to honor volunteer service, thank the many individuals who support the mission of Pine Point and its programs, and renew our ties with one another and the School.
Last year, 180 members of the Pine Point family returned to campus on a glorious September evening. We welcomed alumni from 26 different classes. We recognized parent and new Trustee Caroline Maynard with the Steven M. Castle Distinguished Service Award for her selfless service as a volunteer. And we celebrated the fact that more than $1 million was given to support the School, affirming our shared commitment that each of us will do all that we can to strengthen this place that we love.
Please make plans to join us this year on Friday, September 22, 2017!

The Royce Speaker Series is dedicated to bringing important conversations to Pine Point and our community in Southeast Connecticut and Rhode Island. Generously funded by current Pine Point grandparents Chuck and Deborah Royce, the series’ events are free and open to all.
In 1996 we launched an informal event to bring young alumni back to the School, featuring soccer, field hockey, cider, doughnuts, and time to be together. We had such a good time we decided to host it each year, and celebrated the 20th anniversary of that event this year. The Alumni Games now see “seasoned” alumni returning as well as alumni from more recent classes. As a bonus, the Games also bring back a good number of current and past parents, some of whom join the players on the field and prove they’ve still ‘got it.’ It’s always a great day!
Dinner on the Town offers an opportunity to support the School while enjoying splendid company and outstanding meals at one of the many excellent restaurants in the area. A percentage of each diner’s purchases goes to Pine Point.
Dinner on the Town locations have included Dog Watch Café, Oyster Club, Bridge, S&P Oyster Co., BravoBravo, Red 36, and Breakwater. We are grateful to these community partners for their continued support, and appreciate your patronage of these friends of Pine Point.
Join us in the fall for our next Dinner on the Town. We’ll meet at Pizzeria Longo in Westerly (date to be announced).
Join Us on April 28, 2018
One of our very favorite days of the year! For almost 40 years Pine Point has hosted this gathering of the Pine Point extended family on the last Friday in April. In recent years more than 250 grandparents and special friends have come to campus to experience a day in the life of Pine Point.
We’re already looking forward to next year’s gathering on April 27, 2018. Save the date!

Always a great day of fun and good-spirited competition, the School’s annual tournament provides the opportunity to enjoy a round of golf at Stonington Country Club, one of the area’s top courses, while raising funds for the program.
The 24th annual Pine Point Golf Tournament took place Monday, May 16, 2016 at Stonington Country Club. Supported by 66 players and 11 tee sponsors, this year’s tournament raised $9300 in net income to benefit all aspects of the School. We are grateful to DeMovick Design and Development and Professional Planning Group for their continued generosity and once again serving as corporate sponsors of the tournament.
Plan to join us May 15, 2017 for our 25th annual tournament!

At Commencement Pine Point celebrates the achievements of those in the middle school who distinguished themselves academically and through their character and commitment to the community.
Please join us in welcoming back to campus Charles Glew '07, who will deliver the 2017 Commencement Address.
A graduate of Pine Point and Portsmouth Abbey, Charles earned a bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI). He also has a graduate degree in Technology Commercialization and Entrepreneurship from RPI.
Charles works for ThermoAura Inc., a nanotechnology and clean energy start-up headquartered in Colonie, New York. ThermoAura applies nanotechnology and thermoelectrics to address global environmental concerns with the goal of providing solutions for global energy challenges. The company is focused on commercializing a novel manufacturing technology utilizing nanotechnology to unlock the multibillion-dollar market for thermoelectrics. Charles serves ThermoAura as their NanoWave Operations Manager. In that role, he runs their manufacturing process to “get it off the ground to full-scale manufacturing capabilities."
All alumni, and especially the Class of 2007 and those who knew Charles when he was a student at Pine Point, are encouraged to come hear what he has to say to our graduating class, middle school students, faculty, families, and friends.
The Snow Ball is Pine Point’s bi-annual auction. The last three auctions have all been held at the historic Ocean House in Watch Hill, RI. The auctions have provided important support for the entire program while also making possible the construction of our middle school athletic locker rooms and the purchase of resources ranging from iPads, microscopes, a kiln, “great fit books” for our youngest students, to substantial backing of the faculty’s professional development. The most recent Snow Ball took place on February 20, 2016 and brought out over 200 members of the Pine Point family and the greater community. The 2016 Snow Ball was a record-setting night, raising $160,000 in net income to support the experience of this current generation of Pine Point students and their teachers.
Please make plans to join us for the 2018 Snow Ball, which will be held at Lake of Isles in North Stonington, Connecticut!
