Center for Assessment and Learning

The Center for Assessment and Learning (CAL) supports Pine Point School’s mission and vision as a resource for students, teachers, parents, and the larger community. We provide individuals with assessment, instruction, and an optimal environment for learning and exploration.

The Orton-Gillingham instructional approach focuses on the learning needs of a individual student. This tool is intended primarily for work on skills associated with dyslexia. The approach is diagnostic-prescriptive: every lesson is personalized and each lesson is tailored to the student’s strengths and weaknesses as determined by the previous lesson. Skills in reading, spelling, and writing, including phonics, linguistics, rules and patterns of language, etc., are taught directly and systematically. The student receives continuous feedback and positive reinforcement.

SSAT Flex Testing

Pine Point School is a member of The Enrollment Management Association and is an official test site for the SSAT. We offer a calm, pressure-free setting for both Middle and Upper SSAT testing for all students, including those who have approved accommodations.

We offer the SSAT on the following standard administration test dates:
Saturday, October 13, 2018
Saturday, November 10, 2018
Saturday, December 8, 2018

In addition, we offer flex testing, available on most dates throughout the year. To inquire about and schedule a flex test for your student, you may submit a request. Please note that a student may only take the SSAT on a flex date once per academic year, and that it may not occur on a designated SSAT testing date. Flex testing must be scheduled with Pine Point School prior to registering through SSAT. Pine Point School's administration fee is $200 for flex testing, or $250 for a rush request. Additional information about the SSAT may be found on
