Artifishal: November 7, 2019
Pine Point School will host a free screening of the film Artifishal for student groups at 9:00 a.m. and for the general public at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, November 7 at:
Mystic Luxury Cinemas
27 Coogan Blvd, Mystic, CT 06355
Artifishal details the impacts of salmon hatcheries in the Pacific Northwest and emphasizes the unintended consequences that we, as individuals and a society, have on the environment and cultures.
Teachers can connect this to the classroom as your students explore questions including:
- What is a healthy ecosystem?
- How can one change can lead to unintended consequences?
- What is required to create healthy food?
The viewing will be followed by a brief discussion and further opportunities around issues of environmental awareness.
If you are interested in bringing students to the morning screening, please email firstname.lastname@example.org with your name, your school's name, and the expected number of people in your group. The event is free, but seating is limited, so please RSVP by October 11.
Free Public Screening
In the evening there will be a second viewing of the film open to the public at 6:30 p.m. followed by a conversation with Doug Thompson, Professor of Geoscience and Environmental Studies at Connecticut College and author of The Quest for the Golden Trout: Environmental Loss and America’s Iconic Fish.
If you are interested in attending the evening screening, please reserve your seats via EventBrite. Tickets are free but seating is limited, so you must register.
